How To Make Your Wedding Outfit Art Deco!

We all love the Art Deco era, and if this is something you want to tie into your wedding day, you’re in the right place! We’re here to introduce a few simple things you can do to honour the iconic Art Deco era in your wedding outfit, from wearing vintage emerald rings to red lipstick.
Choose Vintage Jewellery
Our first tip for making your wedding outfit Art Deco is to choose vintage jewellery for your look! This works especially well if you have an antique engagement ring, as you can tie your whole outfit together with the beautiful matching antique jewellery. There are so many options for jewellery that will depend on the style of your dress (as well as pearls, which we will look at separately), but it’s pretty safe for you to stick with earrings and a bracelet. You may also want to wear another ring, like a vintage emerald ring if your partner is wearing some shade of green. Once you have picked your dress, go to a vintage jewellers and they will help you to make the perfect selections for your big day from their Art Deco collections,
Wear a Fur Jacket
If you’re getting married in the Autumn/Winter months, then wearing fur is such a great Art Deco inspired addition to your wedding look (we are big advocates of faux fur, which is a much more animal-friendly alternative to real fur and it looks very similar). You could get a smaller wrap for your shoulders or go bold with a larger fur for a few incredible photos. Go with classic white or go for something with a bit of colour like a brown mink colour, to add some depth to your outfit. Of course, you can have some photos without the fur to show off the detail of your dress, but fur does look breathtaking, especially with simple dresses.
Wear A String of Pearls
First up on our list is an Art Deco classic, a string of pearls. Pearls were worn by the highest members in society, adding such a classy finish to any outfit. If you’re wearing a scooped neckline dress, wearing layered pearls looks just breathtakingly beautiful, especially when paired with a simple pair of dangle pearl earrings. If it’s in your budget to afford a natural pearl necklace from the 1920’s itself then that’s fantastic, otherwise replicas will look very similar on your big day. You can then start a tradition and perhaps pass this down the generations. Wearing a string of pearls will help you to look effortlessly classy on your big day.
Add A Red Lip
A statement red lip was key in the 1920’s, so if you want to go bold with your makeup, this is the way to go. Alongside your white dress and a sleek hair look, a red lip will be simply breathtaking. Just make sure that you trial a few lipsticks way in advance, so you know it won’t transfer onto your teeth and that your red lipstick will stay put for most of the day. A matte liquid lipstick, topped with a gloss, works really well for this, as it stops your lips from drying out but also stays in place for the whole day! Keep the rest of your makeup simple and with a red lip, you will have a timeless makeup look.
